The Auzelon project, developed by Boralex, involves developing a wind farm with 7 turbines, located in the Allier department. This farm will contribute to the energy transition and the deployment of renewable energies in the region. A leader in the Canadian market and the first independent producer of onshore wind energy in France, Boralex is also present in the United States and the United Kingdom. In France, Boralex focuses its activities on three sectors: wind, solar, and storage.

In agreement with the local authorities of Saint-Victor, Saint-Angel, and Le Verneix, Boralex aims to prioritize the local residents for this participatory financing initiative. The company has already offered several participatory financing options on our platform, exceeding one million euros.

The project

What will your investment fund?

The Auzelon wind farm project, located in the municipalities of Saint-Angel and Saint-Victor, embodies the local desire to actively contribute to the energy transition by enhancing a territory naturally suited to hosting a wind farm.

As early as 2020, the municipalities initiated consultation processes, launched a call for projects, and selected Boralex, the leading independent producer of onshore wind energy in France. This dynamic was accompanied by an increase in the skills of the elected officials. This mobilization of the municipalities was accompanied by the creation of a steering committee bringing together elected officials and developers to define the main orientations.

In parallel, a monitoring committee consisting of around twenty residents and local stakeholders was set up to ensure regular dialogue with the population. The field studies carried out over two years made it possible to define an installation that respects the environment, acoustics, and landscape, consisting of 7 wind turbines, 6 in Saint-Angel and 1 in Saint-Victor, all more than 650 meters from the houses.

This park will supply 35,000 inhabitants with electricity each year and avoid the emission of 3,300 tons of CO₂. It will also generate local economic benefits estimated at 375,000 euros per year.

The submission of environmental permits is planned for autumn 2024, with the start of construction envisaged between 2026 and 2027. Carried out by and for the territory, this exemplary project is part of the regional objectives for the development of renewable energies and offers citizens a concrete opportunity to participate in the local energy transition.

Our analysis

What are the risks and proposed mitigation measures?

Risk overview

Development risk

Authorizations

Risk relating to authorizations issued to the company and land, and third-party appeals against authorizations issued.

Mitigation methods

Refinancing risk

Refinancing

Credit risk related to the company's ability to refinance and meet its debt obligations.

Mitigation methods
